WORKSHOPS:
Building Recovery Workshops will be conducted in the Western Region as needed, now that the Building Capability Forum has been held.
CEIC initiated activities in the Western Region with a Leadership Forum, held in July 2009 at Batavia in Genesee County. Since then, two additional Regional Leadership Forums/Consultations have been conducted, one in Erie County and one in Monroe County. Additional contacts have been made in Niagara County, where work is expected to continue.
A total of 86 on-site assessments of co-occurring capability have been conducted to date in the Western Region. At the end of 2010, assessments had been conducted at 11 outpatient programs, 5 in Monroe County, 3 in Genesee County, 2 in Livingston County, and 1 in Orleans County. At the end of 2011, another 75 outpatient programs will have been assessed (3 in Cattaraugus County, 8 in Chautauqua County, 33 in Erie County, 24 in Monroe County, 2 in Niagara County, and 5 in Wyoming County). At the conclusion of the assessment, each program receives a written report detailing their current level of co-occurring capability, along with a summary of CEIC’s recommendations for increasing (“building”) their capability.
Once a program has been assessed, CEIC continues to provide individual technical assistance, as needed, toward achieving their goals, usually by phone. When the number of assessed programs is sufficient to form at least one cohort, plans are initiated to conduct a “Building Capability Forum” for 10 to 15 programs; the first Western Region Building Capability Forum was held on December 13 for providers in Chautauqua, Erie, Niagara, and Wyoming Counties; additional forums will follow as groups of programs become eligible. CEIC organizes Building Recovery Workshops (the full workshop title is “Building Recovery Oriented Outpatient Services”) subsequent to Building Capability Forums, along with other follow-up technical assistance according to program needs and overall progress.
