1 WORKSHOP:
2010: a Building Recovery Workshop for New York City programs from Cohorts 1 and 2 (combined) was held on October 26.
New York City (NYC), with its high population density, is the home of a large number of outpatient programs. CEIC initiated activities in NYC with a Leadership Forum, held in Manhattan (New York County), October 2009, which included programs from New York (Manhattan), Bronx, Kings (Brooklyn), and Queens Counties. To get to know the provider constituency and to introduce CEIC services, CEIC technical assistance specialists attended mental health and substance abuse council meetings in each of the five boroughs (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island) between November 2009 and March 2010. Other meetings with provider agency leaders were held in March, April, June, and September 2010 to continue building a network of agency contacts, and to identify programs within each agency that would be interested in receiving technical assistance; these meetings constitute an additional 3 Leadership Forum consultations.
To date on-site assessments have been conducted a total of 132 outpatient programs (12 in the Bronx, 33 in Kings County, 49 in New York County, 21 in Queens County and 17 in Richmond County) located throughout all five boroughs.
Three Building Capability Forums were held in 2010, and another 3 were held in 2011. A Building Recovery Workshop for Cohorts 1 and 2 combined was held in 2010; additional workshops will follow in 2012. CEIC will continue to expand its technical assistance activities throughout New York City and its network of programs in each of the five boroughs. The sequence of activities will continue; additional outpatient programs will be assessed and, as program numbers warrant, forums and workshops will be scheduled. Concurrently, existing program cohorts will continue to work together to advance their individual co-occurring capabilities.
*Note: that the Building Capability Forum for the FEGS program group, which was held in New York City, included programs based in Long Island (Nassau and Suffolk Counties). Since more of the programs were located in NYC, the Forum was considered to be a NYC Region event.
