How can CEIC help us increase the co-occurring capability of our programs?
My agency wants technical assistance from CEIC.
Building Capability Forums bring together cohorts of representatives from 14 to 20 geographically related mental health and substance abuse programs that have completed on-site Dual Diagnosis Capability in Addiction [or in Mental Health] Treatment (DDCAT or DDCMHT) surveys. Building Capability Forums are used to review aggregate survey results for the group of programs attending, which allows shared themes to be isolated and discussed. Using the context of the survey results, CEIC is able to present more detailed advice on improving existing co-occurring capabilities and in building local collaboration.
Building Capability Forums
CEIC begins by identifying and organizing outpatient agency substance abuse and mental health programs into groups (or cohorts) that are in the same region and geographically convenient to one another. An on-site assessment of each program’s co-occurring (or “Dual Diagnosis”) capability is scheduled and completed, using the Dual Diagnosis Capability in Addiction [or in Mental Health] Treatment (DDCAT or DDCMHT) index instruments. When all agencies in the cohort have been surveyed, CEIC then convenes a “Building Capability Forum,” which brings the cohort programs together at a central venue. Early in the forum, aggregate survey results are reviewed to isolate a number of shared themes and to provide practical assistance on how to improve the programs’ existing capability. At the conclusion of the Building Capability Forum, the participating providers are offered a “Building Peer Recovery Workshop” and then invited to participate in CEIC’s sustainability activities (e.g., a “Learning Collaborative”) that CEIC will support through off-site technical assistance.
